With a schedule, RECON repeats a scan on its own at fixed intervals. You can schedule an external scan of your public domains or an internal scan run by a probe.
Goal
Set up a recurring scan, check its upcoming runs and manage it over time: pause it, resume it, run it straight away or delete it.
Prerequisites
- For an external scan: the domain must already be one of your External Targets. Every run spends Cyber Tokens per domain (90 tokens per domain at the end-user price, 50 for partners), just like a scan you start by hand.
- For an internal scan: a registered probe with at least one network configured. Scheduled internal scans are covered by the probe licence and spend no tokens.
- You can have up to 10 schedules per account. Paused schedules count towards the limit: if you reach it, delete one to create another.
Steps
Open your schedules
In the left menu, open Schedules. For each schedule the list shows the target, the Frequency, the Next Run, the Last Run and the Status (Active or Paused).
Choose the scan type
Click New Schedule and choose External scan or Internal scan.
Choose the target
For an external scan, pick the domain from your external targets under Select a target. The Vulnerability Scan option (CVE detection) is on by default.
For an internal scan, pick the probe (or a probe group) under Select a probe. Target networks lists the probe's networks, all already selected: keep the ones you want covered.
Decide what happens if the probe is offline
For internal scans only, under If probe is offline at run time choose Defer (retry next tick), which is the default, Pause schedule immediately or Skip and treat as success.
Set the cadence
In the Frequency menu choose Daily, Weekly (the default), Bi-weekly, Monthly or Quarterly. Then set the Preferred Time and, depending on the frequency, the Preferred Day or the Day of Month. Times are in your local time zone. With Email Notifications, on by default, you receive an email when each scan completes.
Check the upcoming runs and create
Below, Next 5 runs shows the dates that follow from your choices. If everything looks right, click Create Schedule.
Result
The new schedule appears in the list with the status Active and the date of its Next Run. From the row menu you can:
- Edit: change its settings.
- Pause and Resume: suspend and reactivate the schedule; while paused, its status is Paused.
- Run Now: start the scan immediately. The scheduled time does not change. For an external scan, the confirmation reminds you that tokens will be deducted; for an internal scan, it reminds you that the run is covered by the probe licence.
- Delete: after you confirm, the schedule is permanently deleted and future scans will not run.
Troubleshooting
- You cannot create another schedule: you have reached the limit of 10. Delete a schedule you no longer use.
- Run Now does not start an internal scan: the probe is offline. The scan will run at the next scheduled time, once the probe is back online.
- Cyber Token warning: if you do not have enough tokens and no payment method, the external schedule will not run until you buy tokens or add a payment method.
- The probe has no networks: add at least one network to the probe before you schedule an internal scan.
