Summary
From the Internal Probes page you manage your Scout probes without logging in to the host: restart them, update them, renew their key or install command, delete them, or adopt a probe that a colleague installed. The same page shows the license of every probe and every group.

Key points
- Group license. The group card, for example "Gruppo Meccanica Adda", shows the Pooled license indicator: click it to see the assets in use, the capacity and the days until expiry. A probe outside any group has its own license.
- A device license is not a Cyber Token. Internal scans are covered by the probe or group license and use no tokens.
- Updates. When a new version is out, Update to vX appears next to the probe version. With Update probe the probe downloads the new binary by itself, swaps it in and restarts; if it is busy scanning, the update starts as soon as the scan finishes.
- Actions that change the probe belong to the owner. In the Actions menu only the owner sees Edit, Update probe, Restart probe, Re-issue install command, Rotate API key, Manage access and Delete.
- Restart probe helps when a scan is stuck: the running scan is interrupted and the probe reconnects by itself within about a minute. Probes too old for a remote restart ask you to run
sudo systemctl restart scouton the host. - Rotate API key creates a new key and shows it only once. The old key keeps working for 30 minutes, so you have time to update it on the host.
- Re-issue install command gives you a new command to reinstall the probe, with an install token valid for 24 hours. The API key does not change.
- Delete (confirm with Remove & uninstall) removes the probe from RECON and uninstalls the agent from the host; past scans stay readable. If the probe is online the agent uninstalls itself at its next check-in, about 30 seconds; if it is offline RECON shows you a command to run on the host.
- What happens to the license. A licensed, trial or grouped probe stays recoverable: in Add probe choose Reactivate Deleted Probe and run the command on the same host to restore its license. An unlicensed probe that is not in a group is instead deleted permanently after the uninstall; its scans remain.
- Adopt existing probe. To use a probe a colleague installed, open Add probe, choose Adopt Existing Probe and paste the API key you read on the probe's host. The probe appears in your dashboard with the "user" role: you can run scans, but deleting, rotating the key and transferring ownership stay with the owner. The key is not rotated.
